I was attending an event yesterday and had the chance to hear an author, Jo Dereske, talk about how she avoided writer's block. She writes mystery novels about librarians. I thought I would post it here:

She said she writes every day and whenever she runs into writers block, she spins her chair and the first object she sees, she has to write a 500 word essay on it. She says it is enough to make her go right back to writing.
