Please ask for permission before you join a thread that isn't listed as "Open."  Sometimes the writer only wants a few/certain people to participate in the thread or wants it to go a specific way and your character won't fit into the story.  Besides, it's just polite to ask first.

If you don't want someone joining a thread, I also suggest listing it as "Closed" in the title.  If you can't because of that damn "can't edit the title after you've posted the thread" problem, just ask one of the mods or admins.  We would be happy to change it for you.

I would say that when there is no "open" behind the title in the Free Zone or Mirrorworld stories, it should be clear and a sign of good manners, that you have to ask the others before.

I wouldn't like to have "open" or "closed" behind the titles in the Galaxy. So there it's Rule # 1 to ask in the storyboard before, because there are complicated plots often.

I was referring more to the Free Zone and Mirrorworld forums, but you're right.  If it's a Galaxy thread, check the Storyboard first!
