What could be the last bastion of true Star Wars RPing. Please guys, keep it going for as long as humanly possible.
~Zark Ekan
You guys do have the best Star Wars site by far.
~Eroe Dragon
Your site has at least twice as much traffic as the other sites I’m on. … You make the site a real community.
~Gi Nebular
In Epics things happen quickly, not so quick as you can't keep up, but quick enough so that things do not get dull, it's an environment that is friendly and encourages writer development, and in Epics through the encouragement and criticism of my fellow very talented writers, my writing has evolved and I recently was published in a small literary magazine in my College, for a short story…. the people at tales try harder to bond with their community.
~JediRich
Learn from Star Wars Epics: they're the best Star Wars role playing board out there right now, hands down.
~Gash Jiren
You want me to be honest Sam, Epics spoiled me, I go other RP sites, no one talks to eachother, [BS's] with eachother, no one has fun, i compare other sites to Epics and those other sites suck, im not [BS'ing] you either
~Derek Leamos
And since I've got you here, I just thought I'd let you know that "Epics" is quite possibly the best rpg site I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of and I really feel honored at the acceptance I've received. Not to mention that the site is populated by extremely talented writers who actually try to convey some kind of message and have a firm grasp on grammar and spelling. Kudos to you, very nicely done!
~Cal Stravin
BTW, don't know if I've mentioned this or not yet, but thanks for helping me get started at Epics. I've heard nothing but good things about the board and the people there, and have always wanted to have a character there. So thanks again for everything. I won't disappoint you. =)
~Arai Heishi
I like Epics for three reasons… no BS, great stories/writers, and no training!
~Quazar Binks
I can't think of a word to describe the strength in these (story) posts. seriously, to say they were awesome wouldn't be giving them enough credit.
~JediJuggler
You guys are really good writers … I haven't read a post yet that was under ten paragraphs … 'tis incredible! I'm going to have to work my butt off to keep up … Wow… This has to be one of the best RPG's I've seen … I'll… try to keep it up to your guys' standards, although I don't know if I can match your writing skills
~Eternal Mobius
Man you and Sam rock you should enter some writing competitions.

Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
Inspired by the Ezboard Hack of May 2005I really don't think Epics needs to worry about losing members to [the ezboard hack]. It's the best Star Wars RPG board I've found. Period. … I searched FOREVER before I found Epics, and I kept looking a while after just to see if there was anything else–I found absolutely nothing that was even CLOSE to being on par with Epics. … You guys don't seem to hold grudges against people, and are very impartial, but without being cold and distant. It's impressive when a board can do that, but moreso when the board can keep it up the way you guys have. … (is anyone else feeling kind of patriotic towards Epics right now?) … Plus this place gets tons of new bios every week … I can't wait until I can write like that… and english is my first language! :p
~Adiar
I've been on a lot of Boards, … and this one is the best…its even better than that Star Wars Galaxies Game!
~DarkKnightCuron
I think on a board as good as this, deleted files can't stop the good writing. … its always interesting to read the new bios…there are alot of good ones.
~Wen Mernde
I've been on quite a lot [of RPGs]… none of them really matched up to this place … as long as the writers keep the effort up, people will see that Epics is exceptional… and probably flock back to it.
~Darth Onythis
Well trust me you've picked the best board on the net to join up with, and in a few weeks time you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. I know I do.
~Cal Stravin
Yeah Corran, Epics is ecellent, your the only place I've rped online for 4 years, there is no other place with as great writers, stories, and friends … The Bounty blew me away it's like reading a damn novel … i was literally glued to my copmputer for like a hour and a half … lol, hey I'm 24, I've been on epics more or less since I was 19. and it's been a trip. … Yeah man, corran and sam were the ones to inspire me to write how I write today … I've grown as a writer because of them.

Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
Actually its not how much i like posting as is how much i like SWE~AugustusMalevolyn
"Alright, that's it! Today, I'm walking my routine! Yeah! Pumped! Nothing's gonna stop me now! In your face, Opr- hey! New post on Epics." *screech*
~Dac Starborn
This is the best roleplaying site I've run into over the years … SWE has done an exceptional job keeping a steady pace of roleplaying and not letting anything ruin it. Some sites you find will go to pieces over just one silly disagreement. It seems like everyone gets along so well here…
~Split Infinity
This is really still the best RP site that I've found anywhere. I'm just sad that the other sites are so much less mature. Some of the posters there don't even seem to know how to spell. … After I read your posts I get so frustrated when I jump sites and read the replies to my other posts. Ugh. I end up going back here. Sometimes when I have nothing better to do I just read the story all over again and grin, or go browse at the other forums. I'm glad that others appreciate it as well.

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
Ok…this is a shout out to everyone here! I want to properly take the time to personally (as personal as a general post can get, if I had more time I would go to each and everyone of you) thank everyone for making my experience here fun and fullfilling at the same time. I may not always agree with everyone on everything, and sometimes our POV may differ and/or be quite opposite, but I will honestly say, that I enjoy each and everyone that I have exchanged messages and posts with. So everyone stand up and take a bow or pat yourselves on the back, you gals and guys deserve it!I am looking forward to continuing on in the new year, and I am looking forward to when I can actually scrape some time to actually post proper in game. Again thank you all for making this a great place to be.

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
So, all in all, very thoroughly done board–excellent plot lines and great RPers. It's good to see a quality, active SW RPG still floating around (since most of the Ezboard ones are deserted or really really really inactive).~Jerome

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
Sam, Corran, Han, I've never had better friends I've never met. Thank you so much for your tireless effort at making this board THE best Star Wars genre board on the internet. I have never seen such dedication or devotion in anyone, and it's because of you guys that the true spirit of star wars will continue to shine on. You are the heart, mind and soul of this board, and never a more pure trio could I ever think of. Thank you.To Cyan, Marcus, Sythis, Zem, Kess and anyone else I've worked with or missed: Writing is in my blood, and when I came to this board I found a virtual pantheon of writing gods and goddesses. The sheer talent that Epics contains in its members is something to behold and to cherish. You're words and ideas are the lifeblood of Epics. You keep this place going, and I would be remiss not to add that the stories here are vastly superior to any published work I've ever read. Because what those books lack is what Epics is chock full of. Heart, soul, passion. It's nearly tangible here, and it's what separates Epics from everywhere else. You are the best, never forget that.

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
I have set Epics as my home page… Consider me an Epics-addict…Epicrack, Epicsmack, whatever ya wanna call it… It saves time for me….I only use my internet for e-mail, research and Epics…. This is how addicting it is.:~Haika Vibrose
Believe it or not, Epics has completely turned me off to one of my old hobbies: MUDs… So there I was, merrily Role Playing away… when I got bored. The thought that kept popping into my head was, “This guy isn’t bad, but Epics is more interesting.” I ended the session, logged off, and came to Epics. I have no desire at all to play a MUD again. Thank you, Epics. I think. <.< Damn but this place is like crack… injected straight into my veins.
~Davin Corros
"Epics is addicting…" Would you like to make anymore obvious statments like "breathing is important"?
~swaq
I'm not addicted. I can stop and walk away anytime. *walks away only to run back after 3 minutes* Okay. I'm addicted. I can admit it.
~Mischa Margolin
I dunno, I've been home sick all day, and except for when I had to go work on the house, I've been scanning the site for posts…

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
I just want to say that I've really enjoyed writing alongside all of you talented people. This isn't a goodbye thread or anything, but I was just thinking about all that we've accomplished as a group. This site has remained unparalleled by anything I've ever seen over these past years. It is absolutely incredible what has been created here. It's certainly the best writing most people will come by, and we get to top it off with an amazing cast of characters and even greater group of administrators.Basically, I just want to say kudos to everybody who has made this site what it is. From all the new members to the old, and from Tales to Epics. I love this site, and I look forward to writing alongside all of you in the future.

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
You know, I've realized something. Looking around at a lot of other Star Wars roleplaying forums, it seems to be a universal constant that they all develop their own alternate timelines. Their own bubble universes, where things have drastically changed from the Star Wars cannon we know and love. It may be fun for those involved, but anybody new to those forums is presented with a universe they don't really recognize, with a lot of research to do before they can jump in and start playing. Here, that's not the case. Star Wars cannon remains, from what I can tell, more or less intact. Yet for that, we as writers still have the latitude to create engaging and interesting stories. And despite the spectacular stories we tell and the epic feel they have, new people can still come in and go "oh, look… it's Star Wars! There's the Empire, and there's the New Republic."
They don't wonder about all the new, non cannon governments that people are running. They aren't faced with a plethora of non cannon tech they don't recognize. They may have to look at the bio of a central character or two for whatever story they're joining, but that's about it. The research is limited to characters, not the universe. The universe is familiar, it's Star Wars, and it has better dialogue.
I'm glad you've managed to keep it that way, because alternate universes can get kinda weird.

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
Okay, wow.I don't know who exactly to send this to, but since you archive the past quotes most often I thought it might as well be you.
I just wanted to thank whoever is responsible for deciding on the quotes of the week from the bottom of my heart for posting an excerpt from my introduction post. I just…the first time I came here it was an extremely daunting experience. Here I am, little old me, surrounded by all of these insanely talented writers.
I mean, at [a board affiliated with us] I at least had the cred of being around so long, of being a veteran. My writing could be absolute garbage and people wouldn't care just because I put in the time. But here I am at Epics, a board filled with some of the best fan writing I've ever seen, and almost nobody has even heard of me.
I don't really know what I'm trying to say here. Its just…its deeply moving for my work to be appreciated here by you guys. To be judged as something of merit. I guess they say the artist is his/her own worst critic, and its so powerfully motivating for your most powerful inner fears to be assuaged in such a way.
So, thank you. To you, Han, Samantha, whoever else may or may not be involved in the process, and to honestly everyone at Epics. I cannot express how grateful I am to have found my way to such a talented and amazing group of writers and people.
Thanks for your time,
Michael

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
Wow…That's all I can say. I was there for it all, and yet seeing it written out like that was really sobering. I mean, I remember the decision to go to ezboard. I remember the crash of 2005. I remember Sam bugging the crap out of me to change my USERNAME when I came to Epics (jk, love ya Sam).
But through it all, Epics served as something more. It was a home, a haven if you will. For someone who while growing up, didn't have many friends. In fact, there were great lengths of time where I had none at all. When I joined this community, we were all much younger, , had little experience writing (I hated it in english class actually), but we all had this love for the characters and moments in the Star Wars movies that initially brought us together. Over the years we not only grown, but flourished. I mean, my god, I could never have dreamed of writing 10 page fanfics for FUN 10 years ago. But, times change, and I changed. My writing grew as I did. We all grew, and the writing here I am convinced could be put into any novel and be read and enjoyed by any star wars fan VERBATIM. It's that good, and that is a true testament to everyone to writes here.
Over the years, I've gotten to know some of the people on these boards very well, the three admins especially. Reading this post, reminded me of all the stuff that they helped me through when I was in college, and afterwards when I was struggling in love and employment. No matter what happened to me, no matter how trivial, I could always come "home". It was my "cheers", where everyone knew my name, and where i could go to vent or just when I needed a kind ear. Epics helped me through break ups, work interviews, hirings, firings, When I was force to take an announced break for a few months, when I came back, it was as if I'd never left. It was "Welcome back", "missed you", and "When can you write?". The dicotomy in that reaction versus the same one from other boards that I had been forced to leave who did not welcome me back, was just so welcome, and really made me see how different the "family" aspect of Epics was compared to other sites.
It's been an exciting and funfilled 10 years here. I'd like to thank everyone who made this site possible, and for those who keep it going. You have been my confidants, my friends, some of the first REAL true friends I ever had, and are counted among the closest members of my cyberfamily.
For all the above, and for all that I know is to come, Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything.

Re: Praise and Testimonials for Star Wars Epics
Why Epics is HomeI had a long day at work today, but a very slow one too… and I got to thinking about my two characters. I started mulling around tons of plot ideas in my head and trying to create some sort of goal or future for both of them. I thought about the character of mine that died, the ones I had killed… I thought of these characters and every character they have met, bribed, fought, killed, loved, lost, and totally frakked over. And I was blown away by how far they had come throughout Epics' history. There are few books out there that create the kind of complex and character driven material as we do here. It's a kind of professionalism and enthusiasm and camraderie that can't be taught. And for that I wank to thank you all…
But… when I got home. I clicked my Star Wars Epics favorites link and came to find a "X Page Cannot Be Displayed". I tried accessing it through Google, typing the link in the address bar, everything… and a sting of panic hit me as to what it would be like if all of the sudden I didn't have Epics. Because Epics is my writing home. And although people get busy, and they leave and they come back… it's the one thing that has stayed with me these past few years that I know will never die. And I hope that never changes.
So. Thank you Sam and Corran and Han, and everyone else who has helped make this place what it is. You've all been unconditionally kind and encouraging, understanding and inspiring.
Thank you for being the best book I've ever read.
