Anyhow, myself, my sister, and two friends will be going, and we want to come up with good costumes. We would love to have them all related to each other, but they don't have to be. As this would be all of our first time ever cosplaying, we want something that fits (most) of the following criteria: inexpensive, not time consuming, not tacky-looking, generally awesome. Hopefully such a thing exists.
Our first thought was Weeping Angels, but to make a costume like that will be time consuming. That's at the top of the list currently.
So I'm wide open for suggestions!

HAHAHA That's a hilarious idea! We would either be immensely popular or immediately run out of town. There really isn't a list at this point. We've thrown around lots of ideas, but nothing's stuck. I suggested Supernatural since those costumes are EASY to put together, but my sister wants to stand out, look awesome, and be a female character. "I just want to stand in the lobby all day and have people take pictures of me" <- direct quote. She's a bit of a narcissist.
We've thought of Marvel, DC, LOTR, Star Wars (I would LOVE to get my hands on a set of stormtrooper armor, but I don't have the money for that right now). Like I said, nothing's stuck.
I did think about going as Jelt, but nobody would know who I was. The only really troublesome item would be the mask, and that's not TOO hard.

If you're all Who fans you could go as genderbent versions of the Doctor. That way your sister could still be a girl…well you know what I mean.Think of a fandom you all love and reimagine it in some way. I've seen some cool genre redos of Star Wars and superherodom as steam or dieselpunk, noir, rockabilly, etc. Some things are going to take work, but you'd be amazed at the tutorials you can find out there to do it rather cheaply. There's an artist from Spain name Rafa Maya who does amazing steampunk things with just cardboard, paint, and found items that are really inspiring.

Re: First Time/Group Costumes
My first group cosplay was a Stargate team before Stargate was a thing. (Seriously, we were the only Stargate people there.) The uniforms are ridiculously easy to do and I hear that you can even get a Zat gun these days. But we got lots of pics taken of us, even so.I first did Neil Gaiman's Death and totally wish my brother had been there, he'd have been a great Destruction (her brother), just worn normal clothes and have his red hair and be larger than I am. Now he has no hair but that's not important right now.
That's a good cascade of characters you and your friends could choose from. Except Despair. I wouldn't do Despair. You don't need to purchase or make costumes really, for any of them. Just all be together and they will get it. (Unless you're all girls in which case never mind.)
That said, I really like the steampunk page. :]
Oh, and the Hyatt? Take the stairs. I hope you got a lower floor. 'Cause, dayum. We gave up and went to the Marriot. Have fun! Maybe we'll see you next year!
Edit: Hey found my Death. That's my ankh I'm holding in my hand. The ankh I bought before Death was a character (but Miriam from The Hunger was).
