"The genius of birds" by Jennifer Ackerman.

A scientific book about how smart birds are and how their brains work.

It's fantastic, from the very first page. The TV adaptation was close in theme. My favorite part is the dog.

Solo: Tales From Vandor. Interesting, especially for the tidbits about Corellia: System has 5 planets–so far, Corellia and Selonia have been named, though the latter not specifically mentioned as part of the system. An image of the Corellian flag. Poor neighborhoods being described as "favelas" which I disapprove of; "slums"  would have been preferable. No need to use Portuguese; what next, shopping at bodegas? Coronet City envelops the area known as the "Veneto", which are the islands where many of the factories, shipyards, and working housing units are located. Corellia is heavily polluted, the air reeking of thruster oil, degreasing salve, and the stench given off by ion engines. It snows in Coronet City–which kind of blows the old description of Corellia to be like (Southern?) California out of the water–and the pollution causes the flakes to turn a copper color as they drift to the ground.

Included in the book are an inspection card for those departing Corellia, instructions on handling coaxium, standing orders for Imperial forces stationed on Mimban, and a map showing the official route to Kessel, and the suspected routes Han took when he made the Kessel Run.
