Home Planet: Ithor
physical description: at 6'4" Marcus is an impressive sight. He has been a fitness junkie since his early teens. As a result his body is lean and muscular. He always wheres dark glasses over his eyes, even indoors. He has recently shaved his head, but used to have a head of unruly black hair. During his academy days he lost his right forearm defending Admiral Tarkin from an assassination attempt. The replacement limb hides a force pick.
Raised by adoptive Ithorian parents, Marcus grew up on Ithor, learning Ithorian culture. At 18 he was admitted to the imperial academy, must to the shagrin of his parents. He was part of one of the last graduating classes of the Imperial Academy. He graduated at the top of his class, His intensive training included, espionage, Tactical warfare specialist, wilderness survival expert, close-combat expert, weapons specialist, a skillful pilot, and an imperial medal of honor recipient were among his accolades upon graduation. His relationship with his fellow cadet Sam Koortyn however, while being the love of his life, ruined his reputation amongst the imperials resulting in poor assignments during his tenure in the Imperial fleet. On a tour of the New death star a month before it was destroyed, an accident caused Marcus to injure his eyes, which are now permanently affected, the explosions caused his eyesight to become highly sensitive to light, but also had the adverse effect of allowing him to see in the dark. He wears dark glasses at all times to cover his eyes and protect them from any light. Marcus was given an honorable discharge and sent back home to Ithor after the accident. Marcus had no living family and therfore set himself up with a small business giving guided tours to the throngs of vacationers to his planet. So he ran his business, and this continued for many years, until the Empire came back to Ithor. Marcus had been loyal to the imperial cause, but when the new republic took power and everything got better, not a whole lot better mind you, but better all the same. Marcus also hated that the empire would dare to desicrate the surface of his planet, after so many hard efforts to preserve it, he finally saw what the empire really was all about, cruelty. He knew they were invading before they actually did of course. The communications disruption was all to clear about that. Standard imperial invasion procedure. Marcus played the part of the blind man, knowing that after invasion was incaseration. As an ex-imperial officer, and being blind they didn't guard him too throughly. He allowed himself to be incarcerated on one of the many camps now being made onthe herdships. He found out who was invading. All through conversation the guards had with themselves who didn't think a blind man sitting nearby was any kind of security risk. On a dark night after he had thought that enough reconaissance had been done he managed to persuade one the guards to loosen his cuffs, and that was the last action that the guard ever did. Marcus escaped easily, knowing every procedure by heart, and took off into the waste disposal and ventalation system of the herdship ocean's view where he was imprisoned, after grabbing his gear from his house, a few select weapons and a survival packwhich were hidden in a secure locker under the floor in his home, which he scanner proofed himself. Like they always say can take the man out of the soldier, but not the soldier out of the man. A report from early in the morning a day after the invasion of Ithor, a man they call "the Ghost" has been attacking Imperial patrols and liberating prisoners whenever he can, some say that he's an army of one, others say he's a jedi. No one knows for sure, but heaven helps the imperial whos trys to find out
EPICS History so far:
After helping to thwart the invasion of Ithor, and save the life of Han Antilles and Sam Koortyn in the process; Marcus again went into retirement. However, with his talents known to the world, his old commanding officer Colonel Troutman came calling. Naboo was in a bit of a political bind, being invaded, but the government couldn't take action. The resistance was unorganized, and lacking leadership. Marcus was recruited to join Cal Stravin and Madeline Adine on Naboo, and help fight back the invading forces. He agreed to do this, and succeeded in helping Cal and Madeline liberate the planet, though not without heavy losses. Afterwards Cal invited Marcus to join Rogue Squadron, but Marcus refused wanting to return to the simple life. Before he could however, the past returned in the form of Troutman. Newly promoted to black-ops, Troutman asked Marcus to join Rogue Squadron as a spy. Particularly to spy on Han Antilles and Corran Antilles, as the intelligence community did not fully trust them at the time. Marcus refused, but Troutman blackmailed him by promising to keep Han and Sam out of prison for previous crimes. Marcus agreed and joined the Rogues as Rogue 9. He made amends with Sam during this trip, 15 years after their relationship ended. He participated in the battle of Vjun, and was shot down on the Sith's homeworld. There he met his brainwashed friend Cal Stravin. Marcus tried to hold his own, and reach his friend, but the encounter cost Marcus his left arm. After retunring to Coruscant, Corran, Han, Sam, and Marcus were arrested. Marcus' "betrayal" was revealed, and he was released. Once Corran, Han, and Sam were cleared of charges Marcus rejoined Rogue Squadron under Corran's leadership after explaining the blackmail condition of the "betrayal". Marcus' time with Rogue Squadron was shortlived his second time out, and he retired to parts unknown in the intervening years.
