Name: Flin Garrett
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Position: Chief Flight Support Services Officer
Physical Appearance: 6'0", slim build, black curly hair, hazel eyes. Walks with a limp that he tries to hide at times.
Flin was born into a prominent aerospace engineering family who had a long history of working for Kuat Drive Yards. As much as he enjoyed working on the design of craft he enjoyed breaking down various parts and putting them back together in improved ways even better and flying them even more than that. Against his parents wishes he became a test pilot for KDY in spite of his exemplary performance in the corporation sponsored engineering college. The seemingly stagnant life spent attached to a planning team did not appeal to him in the least and neither did the increasingly cozy relationship the planet and the organization was developing with the Empire over time.
As a youngster he'd come to befriend several of the less than desirable "alien" element employed in lower level positions at the Drive Yards and thus had a wider view of the goings on in the galaxy beyond Kuat and its insular society.
When word of the Rebellion reached him he "borrowed" a small transport craft from the company's pool and left his homeworld to meet with a contact set up by one of the Verpine techs he'd known since childhood. His knowledge of Imperial capital ships' weaknesses and strengths, as well as his piloting skills making him a resourceful recruit to the cause of the Rebellion.
During an escort mission near the end of the war, to "liberate" much needed materiel from a small Imperial controlled moon in the Anoat system, he was shot down during a battle between his flight group, the Empire's air forces, and the unexpected addition of a band of pirates who had the same idea.
He survived the crash, but his injuries prevented him from returning to fighter pilot flight status. Bitter at first, rather than let this get carry on he offered to put his engineering skills to work instead and has worked his way up to the position of Chief Maintenance Officer for the New Republic. He has served on various ground and carrier-based postings in the years since, most recently having been transferred to Rogue Squadron as their chief of crew operations.
Flin is easy-going and a fair boss, but does expect and demand the best from the people under his command because as a former pilot he knows how important the exacting maintenance of all-important fighter craft is.
